About Bikes

Bikes for Mission Arlington believes that every child should experience the love of Jesus through the gift of a bicycle for Christmas.

We know that families struggling to make ends meet can’t afford bikes for their kids. Since 2007, we’ve donated over 16,000 bicycles to local families via Mission Arlington—that’s 15,000 young lives touched through the generosity of people like you.

How Bikes Started

Listen to Tommy Saxon from the Bikes Board talk about how Bikes for Mission Arlington got started.

Bikes for Mission Arlington began in 2007 with just two dads and their kids. They bought some bikes and took them to Mission Arlington’s Christmas Store. Once there, they realized the huge need that Mission Arlington has for children’s bikes.

As you may know, Mission Arlington opens a Christmas store each year so thousands of families can “shop” for gifts at no charge. Bicycles are some of the most-needed items. They never have enough, nor could they ever have too many. The children who receive these bikes might not receive anything else this Christmas.

That first year, the dads and their kids came to realize that the bikes were a blessing to needy children of Arlington; they also realized their own families were blessed as well. Bikes for Mission Arlington is a wonderful opportunity to talk to your kids about the needs of struggling families in our community and ultimately the responsibility of people of faith. Bikes for Mission Arlington is an opportunity to teach your children to put “faith into works.” Over the years, more families have been invited to take part in this effort to help those in need while teaching our children that God spreads His blessings in the world by using ordinary people. Faith must be accompanied by action – and God wants us to take action.

You Can Make a Difference!

If you would like to join Bikes for Mission Arlington, involve your kids. Let them pick out a bike and a helmet that is appropriate for a child their age!

We’ll meet Saturday morning at the parking lot at 2229 West Park Row. With a police escort, we will all caravan to Mission Arlington to deliver the bikes.

Once we arrive, you will have an opportunity to see the Christmas Store at Mission Arlington.

Lastly, please ask your friends to join you in this act of faith. Please “Like” us on Facebook and then “Share” with your friends!

“Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” (James 2:17)
